Some photo sessions just feel like summer.
This Ocean City, New Jersey beach session with two sisters was exactly that. Wind in their hair, pastel dresses catching the ocean breeze, and two girls who were far more interested in running toward the waves than standing still for pictures.
And honestly? That’s exactly how beach sessions should be.
As a South Jersey family photographer, the Jersey Shore is one of my favorite places to photograph children. The light is soft, the colors are dreamy, and kids instantly relax the second their feet hit the sand.
And when sisters show up dressed in beautiful Tutu Du Monde and Dollcake dresses, twirling around the beach like they stepped out of a storybook, you know it’s going to be a magical evening.
The Magic of an Ocean City Beach Session
Ocean City, NJ has this perfect mix of energy and calm. The boardwalk is buzzing with families and laughter, but step onto the beach and suddenly everything slows down.
For these two sisters, the beach became their playground.

They twirled in their dresses, chased each other down the shoreline, and stopped every so often to stare out at the ocean like they were discovering it for the very first time.
Those are the moments I love most as a photographer.
Not stiff posing.
Not perfectly placed hands.
Just sisters being sisters.
Laughing, running, and occasionally trying to drag each other into the water.
When Kids Forget They’re Being Photographed
One of the biggest secrets to natural beach portraits is letting kids play first.
Instead of forcing poses, I give simple prompts:
Walk together.
Spin your dress.
Run toward the waves.
Within a few minutes the camera disappears from their minds, and suddenly the photos become real.
That’s when the giggles happen.
That’s when the magic shows up.
And with these two girls, the sister connection made everything even sweeter. They held hands walking down the beach, whispered secrets to each other, and burst into laughter more times than I could count.
Those are the moments parents want to remember years from now.
