Remember that we can’t fix the past and we can’t see the future. We might as well live in the present. It's important to be in the moment and to enjoy life.

Why is it important to be happy?

Happiness is an essential aspect of life, and it is crucial to our overall well-being and quality of life. There are several reasons why it is important to be happy.

Firstly, being happy helps to improve our physical health. Studies have shown that happy people are less likely to suffer from chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Happiness is also linked to a stronger immune system, lower levels of stress, and a longer lifespan.

Secondly, being happy helps to improve our mental health. Happiness can reduce feelings of anxiety, depression, and stress. It can help us to cope with difficult situations and bounce back from setbacks more quickly. Being happy also helps to improve our relationships with others, as happy people tend to be more open, friendly, and compassionate.

Thirdly, being happy helps us to enjoy life more fully. When we are happy, we are more likely to appreciate the simple pleasures in life, such as spending time with loved ones, enjoying nature, or pursuing our hobbies and interests. Happiness also gives us a sense of purpose and meaning, as we are more likely to pursue activities that bring us joy and fulfillment.

Finally, being happy can have a positive impact on society as a whole. Happy people tend to be more productive, creative, and innovative. They are also more likely to contribute to their communities and make a positive impact on the world around them.

In conclusion, happiness is essential to our overall well-being and quality of life. It improves our physical and mental health, helps us to enjoy life more fully, and has a positive impact on society as a whole. By cultivating a spirit of happiness and joy, we can lead more fulfilling lives and make the world a better place.This is what I have learned and loved while doing photography for almost a decade.  Every face is beautiful. I've worked with young children (Babies through the elderly)... Look into the mirror.  See the artwork that God or our creator has created. We are all unique and special. Have all creative qualities and are intelligent beings.

 What do you like most about yourself or your significant others? Is it your/their eyes?  The green, blue or brown color?  Your cheek bones?  The shape of your lips?  The sweet freckles on your face or your children's?  Your kind spirit is what shines and always will and this will show in photography.   Be you. Your true essence. You are beautiful.  Hold onto yourself.  Love yourself, as the universe loves you.  Hugs to all the precious women and men in this world going through any difficult time in life.

As you walk out in the world, know that what you put out there, is what you will receive back tenfold. Positive energy= postiive vibes. Stop and smell the roses around us. Bring out the good in people. This is what I try to capture. The goodness and the love.

Remember tough times don't last, but tough people do.

Deep in the heart of the forest of Southern New Jersey, there lies a magical realm where unicorns roam free. It is here that Dee, the photographer, of Shooting Star Photography captures the most whimsical and enchanting moments of children and families as they embark on a mystical journey with these beautiful creatures.

One sunny afternoon, a family of four arrived at the forest, their eyes wide with wonder as they gazed at the lush trees and glittering sunlight that filtered through the branches. Dee greeted them warmly, and as they walked deeper into the woods, the family could hear the soft sound of hooves and the gentle tinkling of bells in the distance.

As they rounded a bend, they came face to face with a beautiful unicorn, her coat gleaming in the sunlight. The children gasped in delight and the parents couldn't help but smile as Dee began to capture these magical moments. 

The family sat atop the unicorn, marveling at the beauty of the forest around them. Dee captured shots of the family as they petted and hugged the unicorn, who seemed to be enjoying the attention just as much as they were.

As the session continued, the family was led deeper into the forest, where they encountered other unicorns, each one more magnificent than the last. The family twirled and danced with these majestic creatures, creating memories that they would never forget.

When the session was over, the family left the forest feeling exhilarated and amazed by the magical experience they had just had. They knew that they had captured something truly special with Shooting Star Photography and couldn't wait to return for another session, perhaps next time with even more family members or friends.

And so, another magical day in the forest of Southern New Jersey came to a close, leaving behind memories that the family would treasure for a lifetime.

How to Be a Photographer in 2023

It is a strange time that we live in. Technology keeps getting better and better. We don’t need to process film anymore (often would take days or weeks) and images can be transferred over wifi within seconds. Artificial Intelligence or AI, will be changing the face of the game. We’ll start to see more and more of it.

With newer camera phones, better technology in cameras and more learning resources available… it is easy to be a photographer these days. Okay, I am kidding. That’s not true. It’s not.

The photography field keeps scraping to the bottom of the barrel. Trends are the new norm. Actual REAL photography isn’t being taught “because it can be fixed in photoshop” but honestly, that’s not the way it should be or how it goes down. There’s your vision, there’s the camera and HOW you shoot something. Put these three in and you can get a number of variables. There are rules in photography and any great photographer can break them and then there is just plain out no… never do.

There is one major thing as photographers, we all should get down and it is lighting. Weather working with natural lighting, studio lighting.. you need to learn these basics. It is a MUST and if anyone is coming into this game… if you can slay your light, you’ll go far in this field.

Now, we don’t always have the best of luck with working in the best lighting situations and at times, we have to work it. Whether it is a bad reception hall, or a harsh bright day… these are the challenges you may face in your career… and it is with only practice you will learn how to shoot in every condition possible. That’s when you’ve graduated to a “top dog” as I call it.

When a photographer garners the experience to work in ANY condition and kill… and it sounds easier than it is, but it isn’t.. then you will become a master at this game.

Meanwhile, we’re the peons over here… “still learning.” If you stop learning as a photographer, that’s when you need to quit. You can always be creative and always learn something in this game. That’s what makes it fun and exciting. It’s what has kept most in business around.

Join us for a magical Christmas Experience in 2023!

Christmas was awesome this year. We almost had ourselves a "White Christmas!"

Dee, the talented photographer behind Shooting Star Photography, loves capturing the special moments that families share, and this Christmas photo session was no exception.

On a chilly December day in Philadelphia, Dee met up with a group of preteen cousins who were all dressed up in their finest attire. Two boys and one young lady looked absolutely stunning as they walked through the bustling streets of the city, with the iconic architecture providing a striking backdrop for their photos.

As they walked through the city, Dee captured candid shots of the cousins laughing and joking around, as well as more posed shots of them standing together in front of the city's iconic landmarks. But Dee wasn't content with simply sticking to the sidewalks - she had a bold vision for this photo shoot.

As the traffic came to a halt at a nearby intersection, Dee saw an opportunity to create some truly epic shots. With the cousins looking on excitedly, Dee took a deep breath and led them into the middle of the street, where she positioned them in front of the iconic Philadelphia skyline. The boys even wore their suits, adding a touch of elegance to the already stunning backdrop.

The result was a series of truly breathtaking photos that captured the beauty and energy of Philadelphia during the holiday season. The cousins were thrilled with the results, and their families were overjoyed to have such beautiful and timeless memories of their loved ones.

I love my clients. They are a precious treasure to me. How cool is that I am hired a few times a year, every year, to capture these special moments and for just one family?
