There’s something about Wildwood, New Jersey that feels like summer at the Jersey Shore the moment you arrive.
The sound of the ocean, the glow of the boardwalk rides, kids running barefoot across the sand — it’s the kind of place where family memories happen naturally. That’s exactly why Wildwood is one of my favorite locations for Jersey Shore family portrait sessions.
This particular session featured a mom and her two daughters enjoying a beautiful evening on the beach. Between twirling dresses, laughter in the sand, and the lights of Morey’s Pier glowing in the background, the entire session felt more like a summer adventure than a traditional photo shoot.

A Mother and Daughters Portrait Session
One of my favorite parts of family photography is capturing the connection between parents and their children.
During this Wildwood session, the girls spent most of the evening laughing together, running through the sand, and spinning in the warm summer breeze. Their mom joined them for several portraits as the sun began to set, creating some of the most meaningful moments of the evening.
Those quiet interactions — hugs, smiles, and shared laughter — are often the images families cherish the most years later.
Golden Hour on the Jersey Shore
The best time for beach portraits is always golden hour, just before sunset.
Wildwood’s evening light is especially beautiful. The sun reflects off the sand and water, creating soft warm tones that photograph beautifully. As the light fades, the colorful glow from the boardwalk rides begins to appear in the background, adding a unique Wildwood atmosphere to the portraits.
It’s a combination of coastal sunset and boardwalk nostalgia that you really can’t find anywhere else.
What to Wear for Wildwood Beach Portraits
For Jersey Shore sessions, outfits that move easily in the breeze and complement the beach environment always work best.
Flowy dresses, soft colors, and bare feet in the sand create a relaxed, natural look that fits perfectly with the ocean backdrop. In this session, the girls’ colorful outfits added playful energy while still keeping the overall feel light and summery.
