All the Twirls and Smiles: A Joyful Day with a Philly Family

When people picture downtown Philadelphia, they often think of historic buildings, bustling streets, and maybe a soft pretzel or two. But on this day, the city gave us something even better — sunshine, laughter, and nonstop twirling from the most joyful little crew.

This sweet moment on Broad Street perfectly captured their joy — genuine smiles, city energy, and a whole lot of love.

This family session was everything I love about photographing families in the city: movement, connection, and kids who were fully themselves. From the very first moments, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a “stand still and smile” kind of shoot — it was going to be fun, energetic, and full of personality.

I spend a lot of my time chasing golden light in flower fields or along the shore, so photographing families downtown always feels like a refreshing change of pace. The girls twirled through the streets like they owned them, dresses catching the breeze as they danced and laughed their way through the session.
