Welcome to the Magical Mermaid Portrait Experience, sibling edition—where one kid is feeling their mystical, enchanted, fairy-tale moment… and the other is pretending to fight off a kraken (which is really just seaweed).

This summer, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a brother-sister duo at the Jersey Shore, just outside of Atlantic City. She was elegance, grace, and all things mermaid magic. He was… well, a pirate. A loud, sandy, chaotic pirate. And honestly? It was perfect.

Let’s be real—sibling photo shoots are part adorable, part WWE wrestling match, and this one was no exception. She struck perfect, graceful poses in her shimmering mermaid tail while he swung a plastic sword like he was defending the high seas from invisible enemies. I like to think of it as “organized chaos.”

And yet… despite the occasional sand-throwing incident, the photos? Pure magic.

As the temperature starts to rise, and the sun starts to shine brighter, I find myself longing for the beach and the summer at the Jersey Shore. There's something about the salt air, the sound of the waves crashing, and the feeling of sand between my toes that just can't be replicated anywhere else.

Pastel perfection is probably the best word to describe this shoot, this evening! The skies were just right. We got that iconic pastel look that everyone loves!

The Jersey Shore has always held a special place in my heart. Growing up, my family and I would spend just about every summer in Ocean City, NJ. We'd spend our days lounging on the beach, playing in the ocean, and indulging in some of the best boardwalk food around. We use to have a place on Ocean Ave. every single summer and my hangout spot was on First!

As I've gotten older, my love for the Jersey Shore has only grown stronger. There's just something about the nostalgia of walking down the boardwalk, smelling the funnel cake and salt water taffy, and feeling the ocean breeze on my face that brings me back to those carefree days of my childhood. It’s so cool that these kids are making the same magic on the same beach that many of us have been able to enjoy in our lifetime!

But it's not just the memories that keep me coming back year after year. The Jersey Shore has so much to offer, from the lively nightlife of Atlantic City to the quaint charm of Cape May. And let's not forget about the incredible seafood - there's nothing quite like a fresh lobster roll or a plate of steamed clams on a hot summer day, but Ocean City seems to be the popular attraction with families and I don’t blame them!

Of course, it's impossible to talk about the Jersey Shore without mentioning the beaches themselves. With miles of pristine sand and crystal-clear water, the beaches here are some of the best on the East Coast. As I sit here on this chilly day, I can't help but daydream about the warm sun on my skin and the sound of seagulls in the distance. I know that when summer comes around and I'm back at the Jersey Shore, all of my worries will fade away, and I'll be able to fully immerse myself in the beauty of this incredible place. Until then, I'll just have to keep dreaming of those lazy days spent by the ocean.

The Jersey shore can give many varieties of looks for any type of beach shoot.

 I LOVE the beach and would say this is the type of photography I thrive in. I believe my work stands out from the rest in regards to beach photography.  I have scoured beaches from Central Jersey down to the shores of Cape May.. to the Delaware Bay to offer my clients the BEST and most private beach locations in the industry and area. It's the work that I tend to get known for and win awards for. The pastel colors and skies... the light.. I am quite particular when it comes to my work and the lighting situations that I like to use for my clients. 

I am all about giving my best so that my customers have photographs that they will cherish for decades to come.  There's something quite special about beach photography. Maybe it's the wind.. the waves.. the calmness.. the light. Most folks, seem to be transformed and more relaxed for these types of sessions. Perhaps, it's the feet dipping into the soft Jersey sand. It's odd that we have different colored sand from beautiful white and soft.. to more tan or river mud in the area, depending on the ecology and area of New Jersey. 

I love coordinating colors that will just pop at the beach. I love color and you'll see this a lot in the work I provide. Most photographers, tend to blow out their highlights because they aren't too familiar with beach photography or their lighting. You'll see flash being used at midday. For me, that's unacceptable. I understand that flash is used to help balance out the harsh shadows from the sun of the beach and understand WHY sometimes it is used.

Maybe for certain nap times for the little ones and the reason why needs to be taken at this time... but for me lighting is important. I want soft beautiful light and there's a method to my madness. In regards to the locations I use and my lighting choices. If you would like to book your Southern Jersey beach session for 2018, I recommend so shortly! We only offer a limited amount of beach sessions per year and they are sold out every time!I would love to capture these beautiful moments for you!
