The soft glow of the Jersey Shore sunset, combined with the sound of waves crashing gently on the shore, set the perfect stage for an unforgettable photo session. As a beach photographer, it’s always a special feeling to capture a family’s best memories in a place that holds so much magic.

The family arrived in soft pastels (because what’s a family beach session without a coordinated look?) and were greeted by none other than yours truly—Dee, the Ocean City photographer who’s known for making everyone feel like they’re on a mini-vacation while snapping those perfect shots.

Why Ocean City, NJ, is the Best Location for Family Photos

We started with some candid moments—kids building sandcastles (and by “building” I mean, “watching mom do it”), the family laughing at the inevitable seaweed mishaps, and just soaking in the beauty of the Jersey shore. Let’s face it, sandcastles and sunsets make for some seriously magical beach photos!

As the sky began to change colors and turn into a masterpiece of pinks, oranges, and purples, we decided to take advantage of the dramatic sunset and captured a few more family shots. The Ferris wheel in the distance added that perfect “Jersey Shore” vibe, creating that warm nostalgic feeling of family trips to Atlantic City. Who says you can’t have a beach and an amusement park in the same shot?

Capturing the beauty of Ocean City is what I love most about being a South Jersey photographer. As the sky turned into a magical watercolor palette, the family embraced each other for a few final shots, laughing and smiling like they were in their own little world. The best part? Their session was full of genuine laughs—no awkward poses here, just real, raw moments that will make their family album extra special. As they wrapped up their session, they couldn’t stop raving about how relaxed and fun the experience was, which made me feel like I had done my job right!

Grandpa and me...

Every single session we do for our clients is truly unique. Not one photograph will look the same because we truly love making every single photograph a true keepsake and piece of art.It's honestly what we we trained to do in this business. As I reflect back on this 2018 year, I have to say it was the hardest year of my life. As I look back, I almost lost my mother, who is my assistant.. She was hospitalized for over a month. It was a nightmare during this time. We thought she may not make it and that she may no longer be with us. She's a huge asset to this photography business. She's the best assistant I could ever ask for and am grateful for everything she does. I am so elated she is still here with us and recovered fully. About 10 days after my mom came home, it was my husband's turn. He had flu-like symptoms and his condition got worse and worse. He was then hospitalized. The doctors were baffled as to what was happening. Every specialist they had on hand, he saw. His condition got worse and worse to the point where we almost lost him. He lost all bodily functioning, he lost his ability to walk. It was a very scary time. They put him on every antibiotic known to man. It was within two weeks, he started to finally show some life again and slowly got better. He was later transferred to an inpatient subacute rehabilitation center to learn how to walk all over again. It was later found out by infectious disease that what he caught, only effects about 2,000 patients a year with about a 60% mortality rate. He's lucky to be here. When I look back on the year, I see myself. I see how strong I was. As a wife, daughter, mother.. and I honestly don't know how I got through it all. I kept every single photography session that I had scheduled.  I did not cancel on anyone. In fact, the sessions were very therapeutic for me as I was going through this. It's true how art can soothe the soul. There were some delays on editing galleries, but very understandable in the situation and I did inform customers of the situation. Under normal circumstances, most folks would be able to take a leave of absence from their jobs. However, as a single business owner, I unfortunately was unable to do that. I just trucked through.  I realized how strong I really am and how I kept it together. I know most folks would crumble. I just feel fortunate to have both the folks I love dearly still here with me. In any event... as I look back and everything I went through. I realize how very important photographs are. I made a point to get myself photographed with my children this past fall.. as I didn't have any. I also made an appointment with a photographer I admire for 2019 and I plan to make an appointment with another one as well. It's very important. This is why I am sharing this... This is grandpa. He doesn't live in the US (hopefully, soon though) and I told my customer it was important to bring her father so that he could be in some images. This will be a keepsake for the family for years to come to remember. Our children get older every day and the folks that we love.. we continue to lose, year after year. Time does not stand still. This is why it's important to capture these moments. I truly hope this mama got this blown up and proudly displayed in the house. It's beautiful. Get those photographs folks. Capture these precious moments. One day you may not have your loved ones with you.. and all you have left are these. Magical New Jersey Beach Sessions

I truly love the beach and one of my favorite sessions to do. From June until September this year, that is basically all I did besides lavender sessions. The New Jersey shore was my home and I honestly don’t mind it one bit.We did sessions in LBI, Atlantic City, Ocean City, Sea Isle, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May Beach sessions are our most coveted sessions and they tend to sell out quickly.My go to look is generally pastels. I love adding beautiful color to beach skies. So I usually ask clients to stay with a general color theme when they come into our sessions.

I love baby blues, pinks, yellows and lilacs for the beach. Lavender is ultimately my favorite. I love how I can edit around this color and incorporate all the lovely beach tones. I even provide the wardrobe for this color scheme so as to make everything look perfect.For something dramatic, like maternity photographer, black can even be eye catching. However, wouldn’t suggest an entire family in black as would be too harsh for an entire family.This little lady killed her beach session this year. She’s wearing a cute little romper from tutu du monde and holding a lantern.These lanterns are a huge hit. I have a ton of them with different light combos.

As we get into the cooler weather, here in South Jersey, we have some exciting sessions coming up! We're giddy with excitement! The first one that is up is UNICORNS. That's right. In two weeks, our once again, 3rd time sell out of unicorn sessions will take place. Many girls and boys will gather for this beautiful fall-inspired.. yet pastel theme. Our unique "unicorn" will have her own unique look as well. New horn, beautiful floral halo. Etc. Etc. Etc. New flowers.

New pretty much everything for this shoot. I think it's going to be gorgeous with the already changing leaves outside. As this will be another dreamy magical forest location!We're excited to hold these and can't wait to do these next year! I have also purchased unicorn inspired gowns to go along with this September's theme!

EEEEEK! This weather is getting cooler and cooler and it has been extremely gorgeous outside! I am so excited for upcoming fall photos in the South Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware Areas. "They" aka forecasters for fall foliage predictions are expecting things to change a little earlier this year! Last year, fall extended in the first week of November! I recall the leaves not changing until the end of October! This year, they are expecting things to change and peak around mid October in our area.I guess we will see how things go! However, I am already starting to see some leaves changing colors around where I live in Woodstown, NJ (I travel all over) and am seeing among my travels to sessions all across the Delaware Valley, some foliage already starting to show! It's kind of strange.. It's still technically summer!

A little secret..  I MAY open up a few more sessions. I am trying to get caught up with the final galleries from the summer first and then will determine if I am able to open up a few more spots. Right now, we are booked full for the year (since I want to have photos completed for folks this year, in a timely fashion.) Here's a few images from a fall family mini session from last year!! I believe first family to choose images with our new policy! We upload the good, the bad, the ugly from our session...

EVERY image taken and then post them online for you to pick your selection and which images you would like edited. Can't wait to see what this year brings!!! I've already started working with families and hopefully, will post soon! :) I'm adding a few more great locations to the mix in the whole Delaware Valley/Philly area for folks who travel long distances to see me! I'm excited! We got to work at a great location in Pennsylvania the other day and it has so much to offer!     Fyi, new dresses and gowns are coming in daily and am very excited what 2018 is going to bring our way! Stay tuned.. You may see a fall session or two pop up and grab it while you can!!!
