We had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family maternity session back in the spring in a wildflower field near the Shoemaker School in Woodstown, NJ. The location provided a picturesque backdrop, creating the perfect setting for this special occasion.
The pregnant mother looked absolutely radiant, exuding a natural beauty that was enhanced by the vibrant colors of the wildflowers. The children were dressed in lovely shades of blue, complementing their mother's elegant pink attire. Their affection for each other was evident, creating heartwarming moments that were a joy to capture.

The sun was shining brightly on the beach at Ocean City, New Jersey, and I was ready with my camera to capture some beautiful memories for a special family that I have been working with for many years. This particular family consisted of two little ladies dolled up in dollcake dresses… ready to play in the sand and they were all dressed in bright and colorful outfits that perfectly complemented the pastel hues of the beach and sky.

The girls aka princesses were as beautiful as ever, with long blonde hair that flowed gently in the breeze. They were the perfect picture of a modern-day sisterhood who knew how to have fun in the sand. These little girls had their hair sparkling in the sunshine and blowing in that gorgeous sea breeze. With smiles that could light up the entire beach. At times, these girls had a mischievous twinkle in their eyes because they just wanted to run off and play in the sand and get dirty. Of course, couldn’t get fully dirty with wearing their Dollcake gear. Oh by the way, check out their gorgeous dresses here.

We decided to start the shoot on the Ocean City fishing pier, which is one of the most popular spots in town. The pier was buzzing with activity, with families and couples walking up and down, enjoying the view and the fresh sea air. Their mom and the kids were all excited to get started, and we quickly got to work.

We started with some candid moments—kids building sandcastles (and by “building” I mean, “watching mom do it”), the family laughing at the inevitable seaweed mishaps, and just soaking in the beauty of the Jersey shore. Let’s face it, sandcastles and sunsets make for some seriously magical beach photos!

As the sky began to change colors and turn into a masterpiece of pinks, oranges, and purples, we decided to take advantage of the dramatic sunset and captured a few more family shots. The Ferris wheel in the distance added that perfect “Jersey Shore” vibe, creating that warm nostalgic feeling of family trips to Atlantic City. Who says you can’t have a beach and an amusement park in the same shot?

With the current state of affairs, everything from violence in our schools, to food supply issues and down to the war in Ukraine. It makes you wonder if the world has gone nuts. However, I do strongly believe that with the bad we see, there is so much more good in the universe. If we can just look around and see. 

It starts at home. Look around and see the blessings around you. You are loved, you have a place to stay, you have food in the fridge and clothing (hopefully, you are wearing right now). It’s sometimes hard to see all the good and joy and live in the present. 

Time doesn’t seem relevant some days. Each day kind of wanes by, but then time adds up. One day, becomes two weeks, becomes a few months, then a few years. It is constantly changing. 

That’s why it’s important to capture these memories of your family. We all get caught up in the day to day, but we forget to try and cherish this exact moment and time.

He’ll be turning 11 this summer. I cannot say how proud of him I am. Rocco is like an old soul in a little man’s body. Truly articulate and always wanting to debate or get into an intellectual conversation. He’s a chill, ho with the flow, pretty independent kid. He’s got a sarcastic and dry sense of humor and even gets one over myself, on occasions. I really could not be more proud, as his mom.

This year, he graduates his school that he has known for 5 years and next year, he’ll be officially in 6th grade. It’s kind of the rite of passage for preteens. I already see a bit of the attitude and already see the change from the boy to “a man.” As he continues to grow and eat like a monster. 

Needless to say, I am proud of him. His sister loves him to death and considers him, her best friend. He truly is an amazing child and I cannot wait to see the man, he becomes. I see bright things in his future. Maybe engineering! Although, he says he likes to be on the debate team. Maybe a lawyer?! 

Woodstown and the Shoemaker school should be proud to have you kid! I am very excited for your future! Keep looking at the stars.
