NJ Princess Fairytale Session
Discover the magic of winter princess portraits in NJ! Vibrant gowns, dreamy light, and fairy tale vibes bring Cinderella-inspired sessions to life!
The Magic of Winter Princess Portraits in South Jersey
There's something truly magical about being a little kid. Dressing up in gowns and feeling like a real-life princess or prince—the kind of magic that makes memories last forever. That’s what I aim to capture with every portrait session. Every client that comes to me, whether they’re a little prince or princess (or even a grown-up one), I want them to feel like the most important person ever. My job is to make everyone shine through my lens, and honestly? It’s the best job in the world.
Winter Wonderland Challenges
Now, let’s talk about winter sessions. If you’ve ever looked outside in the middle of winter in Glassboro, NJ, you know it’s not exactly the lush greenery of a summer meadow. Winter sessions come with their challenges, especially in wooded settings where everything has gone to sleep for the season. Trees are bare, the grass has lost its luster, and the whole world can feel like it’s draped in a gray blanket. But, for me, that’s where the fun begins.
Creating magic in the dead of winter takes some planning. Dress colors become crucial—they need to pop against the muted backdrop. For this session, I channeled a little "Cinderella" inspiration. A soft blue gown with intricate details was the perfect choice to bring this winter scene to life. To combat the lifeless surroundings, I added fresh flowers. Yes, fresh flowers in the middle of winter! Call me crazy, but those pops of color added just the right amount of magic to make the scene come alive.
Fairy Tales in South Jersey
And can we just pause for a moment to appreciate how a fairy tale can unfold right here in South Jersey? This wasn’t some enchanted forest in a faraway land. It was Glassboro, in the heart of winter. But with the right vision (and maybe a few strategically placed blooms), a wooded area can transform into a scene straight out of a storybook. That’s what I love about photography—the ability to see magic where others might only see bare trees and frosty air.
Why I Love Winter Sessions
I’ll admit it—winter sessions aren’t for the faint of heart. It’s cold. Like, the kind of cold that makes you question your life choices as your fingers lose feeling while adjusting your camera settings. But there’s something uniquely beautiful about winter light. It’s soft and pastel, creating a dreamy, ethereal look that fits perfectly with my editing style. Sure, I might be bundled up like I’m going on an Arctic expedition, but the final images are always worth it.
Having all four seasons here in the Philadelphia area is a blessing. Each season brings its own challenges and opportunities, and I genuinely love working with all of them. But there’s something about winter—maybe it’s the way the world feels quiet and still, or maybe it’s the pastel tones of the light—that just speaks to me. Even with frozen toes and a chilly nose, I’m here for it.
Bringing the Magic to Life
One of the best parts of my job is seeing the kids light up during their sessions. Even in the cold, they’re twirling, giggling, and embracing their inner prince or princess. This little one was no exception. She channeled her inner Cinderella beautifully, and the results were nothing short of magical. Every time I look at the photos, I’m reminded of why I do what I do.
Photography is about more than just pictures; it’s about capturing moments, emotions, and stories. This winter session was a reminder that even in the bleakest season, there’s beauty to be found. It’s about finding those moments of magic and making them last forever.
Wrapping It Up
So, there you have it—a little behind-the-scenes look at one of our winter princess sessions in Glassboro, NJ. Sure, winter sessions come with their challenges, but they also come with their own unique rewards. Whether it’s the soft, pastel light or the joy of creating magic in an otherwise muted world, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Happy shooting, my friends! And remember—magic is everywhere, even in the middle of winter. You just have to know where to look.
Happy Shooting my friends!

Grandpa and me...
Every single session we do for our clients is truly unique. Not one photograph will look the same because we truly love making every single photograph a true keepsake and piece of art. It's honestly what we we trained to do in this business. As I reflect back on this 2018 year, I have to say it was the hardest year of my life. As I look back, I almost lost my mother, who is my assistant.. She was hospitalized for over a month. It was a nightmare during this time. We thought she may not make it and that she may no longer be with us. She's a huge asset to this photography business. She's the best assistant I could ever ask for and am grateful for everything she does. I am so elated she is still here with us and recovered fully. About 10 days after my mom came home, it was my husband's turn. He had flu-like symptoms and his condition got worse and worse. He was then hospitalized. The doctors were baffled as to what was happening. Every specialist they had on hand, he saw. His condition got worse and worse to the point where we almost lost him. He lost all bodily functioning, he lost his ability to walk. It was a very scary time. They put him on every antibiotic known to man. It was within two weeks, he started to finally show some life again and slowly got better. He was later transferred to an inpatient subacute rehabilitation center to learn how to walk all over again. It was later found out by infectious disease that what he caught, only effects about 2,000 patients a year with about a 60% mortality rate. He's lucky to be here. When I look back on the year, I see myself. I see how strong I was. As a wife, daughter, mother.. and I honestly don't know how I got through it all. I kept every single photography session that I had scheduled. I did not cancel on anyone. In fact, the sessions were very therapeutic for me as I was going through this. It's true how art can soothe the soul. There were some delays on editing galleries, but very understandable in the situation and I did inform customers of the situation. Under normal circumstances, most folks would be able to take a leave of absence from their jobs. However, as a single business owner, I unfortunately was unable to do that. I just trucked through. I realized how strong I really am and how I kept it together. I know most folks would crumble. I just feel fortunate to have both the folks I love dearly still here with me. In any event... as I look back and everything I went through. I realize how very important photographs are. I made a point to get myself photographed with my children this past fall.. as I didn't have any. I also made an appointment with a photographer I admire for 2019 and I plan to make an appointment with another one as well. It's very important. This is why I am sharing this... This is grandpa. He doesn't live in the US (hopefully, soon though) and I told my customer it was important to bring her father so that he could be in some images. This will be a keepsake for the family for years to come to remember. Our children get older every day and the folks that we love.. we continue to lose, year after year. Time does not stand still. This is why it's important to capture these moments. I truly hope this mama got this blown up and proudly displayed in the house. It's beautiful.
Get those photographs folks. Capture these precious moments. One day you may not have your loved ones with you.. and all you have left are these. This is why I love what I do and why I got into photography in the first place. If you would like to book your family session, please reach out. We would love to customize something special for you!!! Happy Shooting, my friends!!!! Dee Shooting Star Photography

The Timeless Charm of a Vintage Photo Shoot for Your Child
As memories fade and time whizzes by, there is something truly magical about capturing the essence of childhood through a vintage photo shoot. The allure of dressing your child in beautifully styled vintage outfits and photographing them in timeless settings creates an experience that is priceless and forever cherished.
A Glimpse into the Past
A vintage photo shoot allows us to transcend time and relive the elegance and charm of bygone eras. Just as a well-preserved family heirloom retains its allure and sentimental value, vintage-themed portraits capture the spirit of a bygone era, giving us a glimpse into history.
Imagine the delight of your child as they explore a world of lace, suspenders, and bonnets, embracing the elegance of a time long past. These photographs become a testament to their innocence, capturing moments that will forever remain etched in the fabric of their lives.
Standout from the Ordinary
In a world filled with digital snapshots and fleeting moments, a vintage photo shoot offers a breath of fresh air. It allows you to escape the norm and create something unique, turning your child's portraits into stunning pieces of art.
By selecting vintage props, clothing, and locations, you transport your child into a different era—a realm where time stands still. Whether it’s capturing them on a classic vintage bike or against a backdrop of rustic scenery, these photos will evoke a sense of nostalgia that simple smartphone snapshots cannot replicate.
Cherishing the Passage of Time
Childhood is a fleeting chapter in the story of life. It passes by in the blink of an eye, leaving behind only echoes of laughter and traces of joy. A vintage photo shoot encapsulates the essence of these precious moments, allowing you to freeze time and savor the innocence and wonder of childhood.
As the years go by and your child grows, these photographs will become priceless treasures. Whenever you stumble upon them, you will be transported back to a simpler time, a time filled with innocence, curiosity, and endless possibilities.
Creating Lasting Memories
A vintage photo shoot is not just about creating stunning portraits; it is an experience that you and your child will treasure forever. The process of dressing up, selecting the perfect outfits, and immersing yourselves in a different era becomes a memory in itself. Collaborating with a professional photographer to capture the beauty of your child's imagination and innocence allows you to create a bond that both of you will cherish for years to come.
Finally, as these vintage photographs become part of your family's legacy, they transcend the boundaries of time and become a lasting testament to the love and joy that your child brings into your life.
In a world that moves at lightning speed, investing in a vintage photo shoot for your child allows you to pause, reflect, and capture a piece of their childhood that will forever remain timeless and priceless.
Vintage photo shoots are always the best and a wonderful and classic way to capture your children.
LOVE this Woodstown ladies!
Vintage is life! Taken in Woodstown, NJ.
As I progress throughout the years (and hopefully, my skills are improving) as I'll never be satisfied. I have a thirst for knowledge and I take courses all throughout the year in how to better my photography. One thing I am truly adoring as of late, is vintage sessions. There is something timeless and magical about capturing something simple. Don't get me wrong, I do love the fancy dresses, but there's something about just staying with something simple. Simple and sweet. Neutral clothing, simple setting with beautiful light.. and then watch the magic happen.
One thing with me is that I am a light lover. You'll see my lighting in every photo I edit or do.. Light is key. If you have crappy light, this can make or break your images. I am extremely OCD about my light, but it's one reason why folks hire me. It's literally all in the little details. One thing folks don't know is that I actually have a ton of vintage wear for my clients to use. I have locations all over South Jersey to use and can incorporate such simple clothing into these environments.
My goal by next year, is to offer simple farm sessions. Where kids can photograph with animals. There's nothing like the interaction of a child with an animal. Seeing their joy on their faces!!
I have a workshop with Sujata, from But Natural Photography, out of England next month. I cannot wait to learn from her as she works with animals continuously. If you haven't seen her work, you need to give her a google. Her work is incredible! This will give me the push and confidence moving forward with the kind of work I wish to do! If you would like to book a vintage photo session, please feel free to reach out! We service Philadelphia, some parts of Delaware, surrounding counties of Philly (like Chester, Montgomery, Delaware and Bucks, and of course all of South Jersey. )I wish I did these more!!!
To book your vintage photo session… give us a ring! We’d love to help!
Happy Shooting, my friends!

Why is a Unicorn Photo Shoot So Awesome?
Unicorn photo shoots have become a magical phenomenon in the world of photography, captivating both young and old with their whimsical charm. Here at Shooting Star Photography LLC, we have had the privilege of capturing the enchantment of these breathtaking creatures through our lenses. Now, let us explore the mesmerizing reasons why a unicorn photo shoot is undeniably awesome.
1. Unicorns Radiate Pure Magic: Unicorns are creatures of myth and wonder, symbolizing beauty, purity, and grace. These ethereal beings have the power to transport us to a realm where dreams come true. A unicorn photo shoot allows us to capture their mysterious aura and share that enchantment with our clients. The resulting photographs become cherished memories that evoke a sense of joy and awe.
2. Unique and Memorable Experience: It's not every day that you get to witness the presence of a mythical creature up close. A unicorn photo shoot provides an unforgettable experience, something that stands out in a sea of ordinary portraits. From the moment you meet the unicorn, touch its glistening mane, and experience the magic firsthand, you'll be left with cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
3. Imagination Takes Flight: Unicorns ignite the spark of imagination within us. They carry us to a world where anything is possible, where dreams and fantasies come alive. A unicorn photo shoot becomes a canvas where creativity and imagination blend seamlessly, allowing us to capture extraordinary moments that transcend the ordinary. With a range of props, costumes, and settings, our team at Shooting Star Photography LLC can create visually stunning scenes that exude the essence of fantasy.
4. A Symbol of Beauty and Innocence: Unicorns are often associated with beauty, innocence, and purity. Their presence in a photo shoot adds a layer of elegance and grace that is unmatched. These majestic creatures possess an innate ability to captivate, illuminating each frame with an otherworldly allure. As photographers, we are able to capture not only the physical beauty of the unicorn but also the pure and genuine emotions that arise from the interaction between subject and photographer.
5. Connection with Nature: Unicorns embody the spirit of nature, often depicted in lush meadows, mystical forests, or beside sparkling waterfalls. A unicorn photo shoot brings us closer to the natural world, allowing us to witness the camaraderie between these mythical creatures and their surroundings. The images captured during such a session flawlessly blend the ethereal with the earthly, creating a visual spectacle that celebrates the harmony between fantasy and reality.
In conclusion, a unicorn photo shoot is undeniably awesome due to the pure magic they radiate, the unique and memorable experiences they offer, the flight of imagination they inspire, the symbolism of beauty and innocence they represent, and the connection they have with nature. At Shooting Star Photography LLC, we aim to capture these extraordinary moments and create a visual journey filled with wonder and whimsy. So, let us embark on this enchanting adventure together and create timeless memories that will transcend the imagination.
