Congratulations on launching your photography business! You've got the skills, the passion, and now you're eager to start capturing amazing moments for clients. However, to turn your passion into a thriving business, you need clients to find you. In this guide, we'll walk you through the essential steps to create a professional website and optimize it for SEO to get your photography business noticed.
Building a Professional Website
1. Design and Presentation
The foundation of your online presence is a professional website. Your website should be clean, readable, and presentable. Remember, your website is often the first impression potential clients have of your work. Make it visually appealing and user-friendly.
2. Portfolio
Showcase your work with a varied portfolio. Include samples of different types of photography you offer. Whether it's weddings, family portraits, or landscapes, a diverse portfolio will attract a broader audience.
3. Pricing
Clearly state your pricing and packages. Transparency about your rates will help potential clients understand what they can expect.
4. Location and Contact
Ensure your website clearly mentions your location and the areas you plan to serve. Include a prominent contact form, making it easy for clients to reach out to you.
SEO Optimization
I am completely NO JOKE when it comes to SEO. I don’t ever pay for ads. As you see here, this is incognito mode (click on top of photo). Google generally likes to show you google searches based on your google searches in the past. Incognito mode is the general mode in which you want to search for your google ranking. Otherwise, it will not show you an accurate listing if under your profile.
Notice we are in the top search. Above even wedding wire for our number one tag that we utilize on our website.
1. Use Clear Headers
Organize your content with clear headers. Proper headings not only make your website more user-friendly but also help search engines understand your content.
2. Backend Optimization
Most website platforms offer backend optimization options. Utilize meta tags, meta descriptions, and alt tags for your images. These tags make it easier for search engines to index your content.
3. Submit Your Sitemap
Sign up for Google Search Console to submit your sitemap. This step is crucial for Google to crawl and index your website, making it visible in search results.
Content Creation and Blogging
1. Regular Blogging
Now comes the fun part - blogging! As a photographer, you may not have thought of yourself as a writer, but blogging is an excellent way to boost your SEO. Aim to write at least two blog posts per week, with each post being a minimum of 600 words.
2. Blog Ideas
Your blog posts can cover a wide range of topics. Share your journey into photography, showcase your latest work, or offer a glimpse behind the scenes of a photo session. You can also write about photography equipment, props, or wardrobe additions you've made.
3. Categories and Tags
Organize your blogs with categories and tags. For instance, if you write about Santa sessions in Haddon Township, your category could be "Santa Photography Sessions," and your tags might include "Haddon Township," "New Jersey," "Christmas Sessions," and more. Use categories and tags to help potential clients find your content.
4. Alt Tags for Images
Don't forget to add descriptive alt tags to the photos you upload. Alt tags provide text descriptions for images and improve accessibility while assisting search engines in understanding your visual content.
Getting Indexed
Once you've completed the backend optimization, published your blog post, and chosen a featured photo, head to Google Search Console to request indexing. This step ensures your new content appears in Google's search results.
The Power of SEO for Photographers
Optimizing your photography website for SEO is the number one way to attract clients, especially if you're just starting out. Being on the first page of Google search results can significantly boost your visibility and credibility in the competitive photography industry. So, follow these steps, consistently create valuable content, and watch your photography business grow. Your journey as a successful photographer starts with a well-optimized website and regular blogging.
I promise you, if you do this, you will get consistent bookings!!!

Beautiful Cornflower Field Photography Sessions in NJ
Cornflowers, also known as Bachelor's Buttons, are a stunning flower that would make a fantastic subject for a photo shoot. These delicate flowers are instantly recognizable with their vibrant blue petals and contrasting yellow centers, making them a popular choice for floral arrangements and gardens.
Best friends and sisters. In the beautiful lighting. South Jersey wildflower fields.
Beautiful flowers all around. One of my favorite !
Their bright blue color is especially captivating in photography, as it can create a striking contrast against various backdrops, such as green foliage or white walls. The flowers' intricate shape and texture make them an excellent choice for close-up shots, revealing their delicate petals and the tiny details of their centers.
Moreover, cornflowers are also known for their natural, effortless beauty. They are simple, elegant, and timeless, making them ideal for a wide range of photography styles, from classic portraits to rustic outdoor shots. The flowers also have a symbolic meaning of love and hope, making them a perfect choice for romantic or uplifting photography themes.
Twirling and having fun in the flower field.
Picking cornflowers.
Her blue eyes go well with the blue flowers!!!!
As you enter the cornflower field in New Jersey, you are instantly transported to a place of beauty and serenity. The vivid blue flowers sway gently in the breeze, creating a mesmerizing pattern that seems to go on forever. The fragrance of the flowers fills the air with a sweet, delicate aroma that is both soothing and uplifting.
The cornflower field is surrounded by a dense forest, which serves as a natural border, making it an ideal location for a photo session. The light filters through the leaves, creating a soft, diffused glow that illuminates the field in a warm, inviting light. The dappled shade is perfect for capturing the perfect shot without having to worry about harsh shadows or bright spots.
Brothers and cuties!
Love this vintage look that mom put together!!!
Vintage delights and boys having fun!
Beautiful sunsets! Love this Dollcake outfit too!
Another Dollcake vintage dress find. I love Dollcake!
As you stroll through the field, you can feel the soft, velvety petals of the flowers brush against your skin. The gentle rustling of the leaves and the chirping of the birds add to the peaceful ambiance, making it a perfect setting for a photo shoot.
Where did this session take place?
This beautiful wildflower session for these gorgeous children, took place in a picturesque flower field located in Swedesboro, NJ. This particular location stood out due to its exceptional beauty and the rarity of wildflowers blooming in New Jersey. Although we initially had a different wildflower spot in mind for these sessions, the discovery of this unique and hard-to-find field prompted a change of plans!
As the sun begins to set, the sky turns into a canvas of warm oranges and pinks, creating a magical atmosphere.
The cornflower field has provided a beautiful backdrop for a memorable and inspiring photo shoot that will be cherished for years to come.
If you would like to book one of these sessions, please find information on this link!

It is hard to believe that this little lady was not having it as part of this session. She smiled and came through and had a fun time! I love capturing first holy communion portraits. Hands down it’s a great rite of passage and something to truly celebrate! This photo session we actually did at the Shoemaker School in Woodstown NJ. They have a cute little garden courtyard and then we headed over to the Woodstown High School as they have a meadow area that looks gorgeous at sunset!

First Holy Communions Are Important!
Capturing first holy communion sessions in New Jersey is of utmost importance for both families and photographers alike. The first holy communion holds a special place in a young child's life, symbolizing their initiation into the Catholic faith. It is a significant milestone, marking their commitment to their religious beliefs. These sessions provide a unique opportunity for families to preserve this momentous occasion and create lasting memories.
Photographers play a crucial role in capturing the joy, innocence, and spiritual significance of the event, ensuring that these precious moments are frozen in time. In New Jersey, with its rich religious heritage and cultural diversity, the tradition of first holy communion is deeply cherished. The photographs taken during these sessions hold immense sentimental value, enabling families to revisit and relive this extraordinary day for generations to come.
It's that time of year when you start to think ahead! I have had the honor of doing a few communion sessions since I started this journey! I love showcasing this pivotal and important time in a young lady's or young man's life! It's a passage of life for most families that has been around for generations. Last spring, I had the opportunity to photograph this little girl. It was a cold day! However, we managed. Believe it or not, we did this in the garden courtyard of the Mary Shoemaker School in Woodstown, NJ.
And the session continues on...
In prayer for her first holy communion session.
Picking tulips and taking her First Holy Communion Portraits.
Love getting close-ups of the littles!
Picking tulips during her beautiful spring holy communion session.
There's a lovely courtyard garden that gets pretty kept up on the grounds with beautiful blooming tulips and daffodils come spring. As you can see, the light was magnificent this day. It's what I am all about! YUMMY DELICIOUS LIGHT.
Having Fun AND Getting Professional Communion Portraits is what is all about.
This little lady was freezing cold, but she persevered! Woodstown has some great location options. Everything from rustic to cute little gardens, to the beautiful downtown area. I truly love where I live and I have lived all over South Jersey (even in PA). I find the folks my way to be extremely kind! It's the best place I have ever lived! After our little garden patch photos, we then headed down to the Woodstown High School area as there is a nice rustic field with gorgeous light that resides near the stream.
I need to shoot here more as it is even within walking distance of my own house! I love utilizing places that are near and dear to me. For myself, I believe full sessions allow me to get to know my subjects. I believe they tend to go more smoothly as there is time to warm up. Believing in magical things are what I want my clients to see in the end product. My photographs are magical. I like to see the world this way.

Fall Family Photo Shoot- Woodstown, NJ Edition.
Family Photography is Always so much fun!
I am attempting to get some of my work up on here. I've been truly very busy! I'm writing two books and have been booking for this upcoming Spring and Summer for the photography business! I'm truly glad that the weather is starting to get a little warmer because I love working outdoors! I find that to be the most fun. Studio work is fine, but there is nothing like being outside! I just love most outdoor images. Am I wrong in feeling this way? Here's a family I did back in the fall! We had so much fun! Mom likes a little creativity so we tried to capture that! Our session was done here at our studio in Salem County!

The family is from the Pitman area. Here a few photographs from that session!By doing these posts, it's fun to see the progress I have made in such a short amount of time! I really put in the hard work to learn and educate myself. A day doesn't go by that I'm a student and learning new things! I think this is why I love photography so much, it's a continuing process of love and learning.
You could be a professional for twenty plus years, and still not know everything! It truly is something really exciting to get into and boy, it's a challenge! The good thing is I love a challenge:) I also love seeing how far I've come from when I first started this journey. I love growing! Anyway, enough of my ramblings... hope you enjoy some of these images! Many great things to come! Just you wait!! I am so passionate about photography and I love making people smile! And Whew! I have to get more work up on here, I have plenty more to share!
Happy Shooting, my friends!

Keep Taking Photographs Of Your Kids... You'll be a pro or semi-pro... in no time!
I learn a little more everyday and in hopes to improve. Anywho, I'm getting off subject! I'm telling you moms and dads out there to try and make the effort of learning photography and taking better photographs of your kids. Learn how to shoot in manual mode (you will thank me). Read your camera manual over and over again until it sticks in that noggin of yours! Trust me, you do not need a fancy camera! That is all bull in this industry.
There is nothing more freer than taking photos of your own children! I paid over $150 just for photos, no print release... Nada... for when my daughter was born. Btw, the photographer for my son never came around at the hospital like they were suppose to... And that saddens me. His whole large 11 pounds and all!
Yup, he was that big when he was born. I adore being able to take photographs of my kids professionally. I use them for many subjects and practice, but it's also very cool that I can take quality level photographs of all my kid's milestones. I truly feel free in that sense. I know I would have racked up thousands of dollars in photos thus far, if I did not do my studying when it pertained to taking photos of my kids. I always loved photography, even from when I was a little girl.
My mind works in mysterious ways with textures, lighting and just how I see this world. In fact, my very popular sister blog to this site... Well, I show South Jersey, how I see it...Its beauty and all. I've been so lucky in this endeavor because I know all the best shooting locations from Burlington County to Cape May County!
I'm a bit nuts when it comes to photos. I like high quality. I have invested in a ton of equipment in such a short time frame because of it, but now I feel like it is paying off. I see the work for when I first started and then I see now and it has only been a few months. I see a huge improvement. It's just in my nature to be the biggest and best. I aim to be in the top my field in regards to photography one day. It is just me and how I'm wired.

It is seriously the person who is behind it! I have a drive to learn and I always have. I'm so happy to capture the milestones of childhood with my kids in a professional way. I urge folks out there to put down their camera phones and pick up a semi-decent camera to capture these moments! You don't need to spend a lot of money, you just have to have a desire to learn.
Happy Shooting, my friends! -Dee
